There are superb places for the nature-lover in the area. If you are looking for wonderful beaches, La Griega, La Espasa, Santa Marina in Ribadesella, Rodiles in Villaciosa, Poo or Torimbia are all a short drive away. If it is the mountains you are after, you can visit the famous Lakes of Covandonga, only 30Km away. We suggest also a visit to the Mirador del Fito, in the Sueve mountain range. From this Mirador you can see the mountains on one side and the Cantabrian Sea on the other. It is such a wonderfully beautiful contrast and perspective of the landscapes Asturias has to offer. The sunset there is really worth the 10km ride.

 

The culture vulture cannot miss the Monasterio de San Salvador de Valdediós, with the delightful "Conventín", a IX century royal chapel. At 60km you can find San Miguel de Lillo and Santa María del Naranco, also from the IX century and declared a World Heritage Site, it is unlike any contemporary building.

 

Gijon, at 40km, offers all you can need from a big city. And if you like dinosaurs you can't miss the dinosaur prints walk in La Griega beach and MUJA, Asturias Jurassic Museum.
